Unlike Freiburg, most of Tübingen survived WWII intact. The Altstadt thus includes many original wattle-and-daub houses, the oldest of which date to the 14th century; parts of the Schloss above the Altstadt are yet three centuries older. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon meander.

Tübingen

Ha! I recognize the Hoelderlin Turm in that picture even though you only show the base... I used to sit right there on that wall above the Neckar, where those people are sitting. Recognize the Stockerkahn (sp?).
I studied in Tuebingen for a year when I was in college. Your post brings back lovely memories.
